The Elite Plus Residential Elevator from AmeriGlide

The Elite Plus is a hydraulic elevator. It holds up to 1,000 lb, and the cab interior measures 36 by 48 inches. The equipment alone is listed at $23,995.

Power comes from a 220-volt, single-phase supply, so your home needs that where the elevator will go. The unit is designed to run inside a hoistway, the closed shaft an elevator travels through.

Space the Elite Plus Needs

AmeriGlide gives these figures for the Elite Plus:

ItemElite Plus
Cab interior36 by 48 inches
Pit depth12 inches
Clearance above96 inches
Capacity1,000 lb
Power supply220-volt, single-phase

A pit is the shallow space beneath the lowest floor that lets the cab rest level with that floor. Headroom is the clear height you need above the top stop, here 8 feet.

AmeriGlide Elite or Elite Plus?

On the AmeriGlide product pages we reviewed, the Elite Plus is listed, but no separate price or measurements appear for a plain Elite version. If a dealer offers you something called an Elite instead of the Plus version, make sure you know exactly which model it is. That way you can check its price and size against the Elite Plus numbers shown here.

Installed Cost Compared With List Price

Because the list price covers equipment alone, expect the full cost of an elevator working in your home to run higher. Published price ranges put a hydraulic home elevator at $25,000 to $56,500 installed. Extra expenses can push that up.

Installed price ranges for other lift styles give you a way to compare the AmeriGlide models. Every figure comes from ranges we gathered from published sources.

Installed for two floors. Also priced: a platform lift (an open platform, not an enclosed elevator) $5,000–$20,000, and a glass elevator $50,000–$100,000.

A Smaller Option: The Affinity

The Affinity Through the Floor Elevator is listed at $17,999. It requires no pit and runs off a normal 120-volt, 20-amp outlet. The whole unit takes up 29.5 by 38.1875 inches of floor space.

What you give up is size. Inside, the cab runs roughly 23.8 by 27.75 inches, with a 550 lb capacity, which is a bit past half of the Elite Plus figure. It also needs a little over 7 feet of clear height above it.

Questions People Ask

What kind of warranty coverage does AmeriGlide offer?

Each product has its own warranty terms. The Affinity Through the Floor Elevator comes with a 12-month warranty. With any of the other models, read the terms on that model's page before purchasing.

What makes the LULA pricier than the Elite Plus?

The LULA belongs to another class of lift, a "limited use, limited application" elevator, and AmeriGlide lists it at $49,999, roughly twice the Elite Plus. AmeriGlide's pages don't say exactly what drives the higher price, so ask the dealer what you get for the difference.
